Office Hours
Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30p.m.

Sunday Morning Parking
When you arrive on Sunday morning, you may choose to park in one of three main lots. Two of these will be to your left and right as you enter at the front of the building. These lots fill up quickly so you may wish to arrive 15 minutes before the service starts to find a spot. The third parking lot is located behind the building and is convenient for parents with children – our Children’s Ministry volunteers will be there to help you find Sunday school classrooms and the nursery.

Handicap parking is located along both sides of the building.

On many special occasions (Christmas, Easter) parking lot attendants will help you navigate the lots, and shuttle buses will take you to and from satellite parking areas.

Worship Services
We have two main Sunday morning services, Worship Alive at 9:30 a.m. and Live at Eleven at 11:00 a.m. These two services take place in the main auditorium. The style of worship at the first service draws on elements from the vibrant history of traditional worship, including a balanced mix of hymns and choruses, and a variety of instruments – from organ to guitar. At Live at Eleven, a praise band and singers will lead you in contemporary singing. Each service is generally 60 minutes long and includes worship through song, prayer, and giving, as well as a teaching time. The first Sunday of the month, we celebrate the Lord’s Table together.

We also have a number of Sunday morning services and programs for children, youth, and seniors:

Worship Alive Kids (Sunday School, birth to grade 5) – 9:30 a.m. in various classrooms
Live at Eleven Kids (Kids Worship, grades K-5) – 11:00 a.m. in the downstairs LCS gym

Bitz (Youth Hang Time, grades 6-12) – 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall
Metamorphosis (Youth Worship, grades 6-12) – 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall

Big Groups (Adult Education) – 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in various rooms
The Gathering (55+ Fellowship) – 10:30 a.m. in room 144

Ushering and Touchpoint Ministry
Hosts at the auditorium doors will hand you a bulletin that outlines the order of service for the day. These men and women can also help you find a place to sit on one of our comfortably cushioned pews.

At the end of each service, a team of men and women wearing red lanyards are available for prayer or encouragement. These safe and caring individuals are part of our TouchPoint team.  You can meet them at the front of the auditorium, near the stage.

Dress

Our church family is large and its members are of a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The pastors and worship leaders usually dress in conservative ‘business casual’ attire on stage, but you’ll find people at Grant dressed in everything from blue jeans to business suits.

Welcome Centre
On your first visit, we invite you to stop by our Welcome Centre, located in room 155. From 9:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., our friendly volunteers will be there to answer your questions about Grant, and you can enjoy some coffee and refreshments.

Grant Central
Feeling lost? Stop at Grant Central, prominently located in the front foyer. Our volunteers will point you in the right direction. At Grant Central you’ll also find the Event Guide, a regularly updated guide to life in our community.

Comment Cards
Near the start of each service, Auditorium Hosts will pass out comment cards. If you’d like us to send you information on any of our ministry areas, fill out a card and drop it in the offering basket. There is also a place for your comments or prayer requests.

Tom Castor, Senior Pastor
His greatest spiritual influence. Tom was born to believing parents who were diligent to expose him to the gospel, and he entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at an early age. His grandfather, who had a deep love for the Word of God, was the greatest spiritual influence on his life and instilled in him a love for scripture and a determination to follow Christ with absolute abandon.

Education. Tom’s ambition as a teenager was to attend the US Naval Academy and become a lawyer. Ultimately he accepted an academic scholarship to a Christian university, which is where he met his future wife, Lee Parks.

The path to Grant. As newlyweds, Tom and Lee worked at a Bible camp in northwestern Ontario; here, they had their first opportunity to work among Canada’s native people. Following Seminary, they moved to northern Manitoba to serve as missionaries at Tadoule Lake, a newly-formed community of the Dene (Chipewyan) people from the Churchill Band.

In 1988 Tom began graduate work in linguistics and accepted a pastorate in Muncie Indiana. He received an MA in Linguistics in 1989 from Ball State University, graduating with academic honours. Following his graduate work, Tom accepted a pastorate with a Baptist General Conference church in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. While there, he founded NorthWord, an evangelistic publication for native people. In 1998 he became the Project Coordinator for the Native Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (NEFC). He was the founding editor and publisher of LightPath Journal, a discipleship magazine for the First Nations of Canada. That same year, he accepted a call as Adult Ministries Director at Grant Memorial. Tom became the Senior Pastor in September of 2002.

Around the world … and then again. Tom has ministered in Senegal, West Africa, Hong Kong and many remote northern communities from Whitehorse in the Yukon to James Bay in Quebec. He has also taught pastors in Vietnam in a co-operative program for Canadian Baptist Seminary and the Baptist General Conference of Canada. He is the editor of a Basic English catechism entitled Simple Truths for the New Believer

The Family. Tom's wife Lee has been involved in a variety of roles in the churches they have served. She is an accomplished pianist and organist, and has directed children’s choirs, musicals and dramas. Tom and Lee have four children, two daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, and five grandchildren.

Glenn Miller, Lead Associate Pastor & Director of Community Care

The path to Grant. Glenn was raised on a farm near Davidson, Saskatchewan, where he received his early Christian instruction from his father and mother. Much of his early childhood training in values, work ethic, spiritual formation and interest in missions and Christian ministry was fostered in his home and the local Associated Gospel Church. He enjoyed the missionaries who visited regularly in his childhood home and the Bible and Missionary conferences held at Bible Colleges.
A significant spiritual midlife realignment redirected him to sell his business and complete his Master of Arts in Administrative Studies from Briercrest Biblical Seminary in 1995. After graduating, Glenn enjoyed the role of associate pastor at New Life Church in Stonewall, where he served for 12 years.
Education. Glenn received his high school diploma from Davidson High School and continued his education, graduating from Millar College of the Bible in 1970. After three years of mission-related involvement he initiated, owned and operated Fountain Coffee Services (an office coffee franchise) for 20 years in Saskatchewan.
Love of his life. Glenn is married to Carol, and they have three married children and four grandchildren. Two years ago Glenn and Carol toured Germany and Italy for a month exploring the major locations where Martin Luther lived, studied and worked. They enjoyed an additional three weeks in Norway locating the 400-year-old homesteads of great, great, grandparents.
The man himself. Glenn enjoys golfing, camping, walking, swimming, water skiing, reading, gardening, singing, traveling and long talks with his wife. He is encouraged and energized by spending time with his family.

Stepping out of the crowd … Glenn’s personal mission statement includes commitments to God, family, friends and the church community. He desires to use the gifts, talents and abilities God has given him to lead, nurture and teach all who are willing to respond. Glenn reminds himself that relationships are the only things that continue into eternity, and is committed to contributing to the Kingdom of God and the local church.

Geoff Dresser, Director of Worship Ministries

Geoff Dresser was unanimously affirmed as the new Director of Worship Ministries at the General Meeting on June 12. We look forward to the arrival of Geoff, Pearl and family. Please pray for their transitions and the sale of their home in Ottawa. Download Geoff's profile card or visit Geoff's website.

Bruce Hollins, Director of Integration & Assimilation and Adult Ministries
The path to Grant. Bruce is home-grown. He grew up at Grant Memorial, and worked with Student Ministries during the mid-1980s. Bruce returned in 2006 as Director of Adult Ministries, Small Groups and Integration and Assimilation.
What he loves doing. Bruce has dedicated his ministry life to working within the boundaries of Winnipeg with a particular focus on the inner-city. He has a passion for Winnipeg’s unique culture.

The Family. Bruce and his wife Monica have three terrific children who daily bless their lives.

Kathy Proudlove, Director of Children's Ministries and Volunteer Resources
The path to Grant. Kathy grew up in Niverville, Manitoba. Following high school, she signed up for a two year program in early Childhood Education at a Bible College in British Columbia. But the moment the plane touched down in Abbotsford, she says she longed for home - after all, “There’s no place like home."
Education. Despite missing her family and the comforts of home, Kathy met some of the best friends of her life and "the best man ever". She achieved a degree with an early childhood focus, and extended her stay in British Columbia, creating a home with "the best man ever”.

Best man ever? That would be her husband Nathan. They have one son, Oscar.

Step out of the crowd … become part of the story. Kathy joined the Grant team in 2007 and works to create a loving, safe environment for children and families to worship. "As I watch the children come in to our children’s services week after week, excited to learn about Jesus, to pray together, and to be with their friends, I know that I am home," says Kathy.

Ken "Chopper" Wilson, Director of Youth Ministries and Global Ministries
Ok – we have to start with the name “Chopper”. Ken says that the name "Chopper" comes from infancy and does not spring from any character flaws or a mis-spent youth. You can call him “Ken” or “Chopper” or “Dude” - whatever you are comfortable with.
The path to Grant. In 1989 Ken graduated from the Moody Bible Institute with a degree in missionary aviation. He and his family served at Camp of the Woods Ministries in northwest Ontario for 10 years in a variety of aviation and camp roles. Before joining the Grant team, Ken worked as a project manager for a family construction company in Indiana.
The Family. Ken is the husband of Lisa and the dad of Morgan, Sade, Madison and Sydney.
Step out of the crowd … become part of the story. Ken is the Director of Youth Ministries as well as the Director of Global Ministries. Having joined the Grant ministry team in November of 2007 he is definitely the new guy. He loves to have fun and would rather spend time outside than in the nicest office.
The man himself. He is a member of the Authentic Polar Bear Club of Canada; has played soccer with Brazilians on Brazilian soil; recently chased a monkey with Hondurans; has played hockey with native Canadians; rode horseback in the mountains of Idaho, and bungee jumped with Californians.

Joe Welty, Director of Spiritual Formation and Young Adult Ministries

Path to Grant. Joe’s family moved around a number of times before finally putting down roots in Sanford, Manitoba.  Joe’s path to Grant was relatively easy - his parents made him come as a junior high kid in the late 80s.  It was here a few years later that Christ got his attention and changed the direction of his life.

Joe’s path back to Grant was a little scarier.  After completing their graduate studies, Joe and his very pregnant wife took a blind step of faith and moved back to Winnipeg to begin their family and explore future ministry opportunities.  A few short weeks later, and much to his own surprise, he found himself on staff at Grant.

Education. Joe is a graduate of both Briercrest College in Caronport, Saskatchewan, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.

The Family. Joe and his wife Ang have three beautiful, brilliant, naturally athletic, exceptionally thoughtful and always obedient children.

Step out of the crowd. Joe has been on staff since October 2002.  He has served in a variety of roles before his current role as Director of Spiritual Formation and Young Adult Ministries.

Claim to fame. While he would like to claim that he has wrestled a bear with his bare hands or cycled across Canada, the best he could come up with without lying is that he has lived out of a tent for almost four years of his life.
